Retirement Village

Volunteers handle every aspect of operations at Umandawa. Volunteers organize and run all of the events. Many people have been moved and transformed by the teachings of Siri Samanthabadra Thero to dedicate their lives to the service of others and the development of Umandawa Maha Vihara Ashramaya.

Many of the volunteers have been doing great work for over ten years. In order for them to continue to play an important role in Umandawa throughout their lives, we have allowed them to construct homes there.

Multiple homes are currently in the construction phase. Depending on one's preference, one can either build a house for an individual or family, or one can build a larger house and live in it with multiple other volunteers. Long-term volunteers who are also Ashramaya family members or Umandawa who are interested in building a home in the retirement village should get in touch with us.

Contributions

There are several volunteers who have devoted their lives to build Umandawa but are unable to be a part of the retirement village due to their financial difficulties. We would be extremely grateful if you are willing to support them by donating money or offering your time and expertise.

You can make your donations to the front office desk at the Ravana Asapuwa or click on donations.

Vishrama Shaalawa (Pilgrims Rest)

Hundreds of devotees, volunteers and visitors come to Umandawa almost every day. Currently, we do not have a designated place where these people can stay overnight and join the ongoing programs and activities. Many people come from far-away places and it would be tremendously helpful if they have a place to stay and rest for a while. With this in mind, we have decided to build a pilgrim's rest within the premises of Umandawa.

Contribute Us

If you wish to help us in building a pilgrim's rest, kindly extend your support through cash contributions or by offering your time and expertise. You can make your donations to the front office desk at the Ravana Asapuwa or click on contribute us.

How it all began...

For more than a decade, the Sangha, led by most Venerable Siri Samanthabhadra Arahath Thero, has provided invaluable service to the country and society through Siri Sadaham Monastery. Siri Sadaham Monastery is located in Colombo, Bellanthara.
They have expanded the initiative to Umandawa to reach out to more people with the message of eternal joy and peace.
